Ford is gearing up for a major update to its popular Maverick truck, and the details are starting to emerge. Slide 11 of Ford’s July 2024 Wholesale Call has given us a sneak peek into what’s in store for the 2025 Ford Maverick. Here’s everything you need to know about this revamped pickup.
Debut and Ordering Details
The all-new 2025 Ford Maverick will officially debut on August 1, 2024. On this same date, Ford will also open the order banks. This move suggests that the automaker is preparing its build & price tool, allowing customers to customize their trucks online. Production is slated to begin on November 11, 2024, with initial deliveries expected by the end of the month, though quality checks at the Hermosillo assembly plant may push this to December 2024.
Enhanced Quality and Features
Ford’s build-and-hold system, which was successfully implemented for the F-150, will be applied to the new Maverick as well. This approach involves extensive checks before trucks are released to prevent recalls. Ford’s Chief Executive Officer, Jim Farley, has confirmed that this quality-focused strategy will extend to the Explorer, Maverick, and Bronco Sport.
Visually, the 2025 Maverick will offer a fresh look with new headlights and a more car-like front grille. Fans of bold colors will be pleased to see that Eruption Green will join the color palette, while the Black Appearance Package is expected to remain.
Performance Upgrades and Options
The Tremor Package will continue to be available, though it might shift from Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires to Goodyear Wrangler Territory rough-terrain rubber. While there’s speculation about a potential 2.5-liter hybrid with all-wheel drive, the dual-clutch rear drive unit seen in the EcoBoost-only Tremor pack will not be included.
Inside, the Maverick will receive a significant upgrade with a 13.2-inch touchscreen from the 2023 Escape and 2024 Mustang. This new system will run the SYNC 4 operating system, featuring enhanced customization options, a better voice assistant, and cordless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These updates will likely come with a price increase, but the Maverick is expected to remain the most affordable new truck in America.
Pricing and Powertrains
For the 2024 model year, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine has become standard. The base model starts at $23,920 with front-wheel drive, while adding all-wheel drive increases the price and includes independent rear suspension. The Maverick Hybrid starts at $25,420, with an additional $2,220 for all-wheel drive. The hybrid uses an eCVT, while the EcoBoost variant features a torque-converter automatic.
In the first half of 2024, the Maverick saw 77,113 deliveries in the U.S. market, with 40,420 opting for the hybrid powertrain. By comparison, the F-150 PowerBoost recorded 33,674 deliveries, making the Maverick the top choice for hybrid truck enthusiasts, with the Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX trailing at 26,867 units.
